Plan shifts and coverage

Shift planning gives admins a Coverage planning page for creating, reviewing, and publishing agent shifts.

Turn on shift planning

  1. 1Go to Settings, then Workforce Management.
  2. 2Open Scheduling.
  3. 3Turn on Enable shift planning.
  4. 4Create Shift templates if your team uses repeatable shift patterns.
  5. 5Open Schedule from the sidebar to plan coverage.

What admins can do

Create shifts

Add a shift for an agent, or leave it unassigned as an open shift.

Use templates

Create reusable shift patterns with name, start, end, break, team, color, and active state.

Review conflicts

FyneDesk can warn about double booking, too little rest, too many hours, and unavailable time.

Publish shifts

Draft shifts stay in the planner until you publish. Published shifts notify the assigned agent and appear on the calendar.

Shift swaps and coverage

When Shift swaps and coverage is on, agents can swap, release, or claim shifts from My Schedule. Admins can require approval, and some plans can auto approve accepted straight swaps.

Published shifts are visible

Published shifts appear on the team calendar. Draft shifts stay in Coverage planning until an admin publishes them.
