Connect ChatGPT to FyneDesk

The FyneDesk plugin lets ChatGPT use supported FyneDesk tools through MCP. It is separate from the Fyne AI features inside the help desk. Installing the plugin does not automatically grant it access to your workspace.

Before you start

Your workspace administrator must enable AI assistants (MCP) and approve ChatGPT in Admin Settings → Connections. Your own FyneDesk account, role, and ticket visibility still apply. ChatGPT account or workspace policy can also affect whether you can install plugins.

Install and authorize

  1. Open the official FyneDesk listing in ChatGPT and follow ChatGPT's install prompts.
  2. When ChatGPT asks to connect, sign in to your FyneDesk account and review the access request.
  3. Approve the connection if it is the account and workspace you intended to use. If your account uses MFA, complete any FyneDesk confirmation requested for that exact connector session.
  4. Return to My Settings → Connections in FyneDesk and check the ChatGPT status.

If the direct listing cannot be opened, FyneDesk may show a Manual connection fallback in its Connections panel. Follow the current on-screen steps there, including the MCP endpoint and OAuth client ID supplied by your workspace. Do not copy credentials or endpoint values from an old screenshot.

Understand the status

  • Authorized: FyneDesk has a live OAuth session. ChatGPT may still need the plugin installed or connected in its own settings.
  • Finish connecting: a recent attempt has not completed consent. Finish the prompt or restart from ChatGPT.
  • Confirmation needed: sign-in succeeded, but the exact session needs an MFA confirmation before tools can run.
  • Reconnect: FyneDesk remembers the earlier approval, but there is no live client session. Start the connection again from ChatGPT.
  • Unavailable: your plan or workspace policy does not currently allow this connection.

An Authorized badge reports the FyneDesk OAuth session; it is not proof that ChatGPT has the plugin installed and ready. If a tool call fails, check both sides of the connection.

Disconnect or reconnect

In My Settings → Connections, choose Disconnect next to ChatGPT and confirm. This revokes ChatGPT's access to your FyneDesk account. The plugin can stay installed in ChatGPT; uninstalling it there is a separate choice.

To reconnect later, open the FyneDesk plugin in ChatGPT and repeat its sign-in and approval flow. If ChatGPT still shows an old session, use its own connection settings to reconnect as well.

What can the plugin do?

It can call only the FyneDesk tools your workspace exposes and your account is allowed to use. Pro includes supported read access; Business may enable supported write access for eligible users. Normal record visibility, permissions, and workflow rules still apply. This is not unrestricted access to every ticket or a general-purpose bulk export.

Keep Fyne AI and ChatGPT separateAI Organizer, Analyze & Suggest, and Assist Me run inside FyneDesk. The ChatGPT plugin is an external client connection. Disconnecting one does not turn off the other.
