Client Portal
The Client Portal gives customers a place to request help and find published answers. A basic portal is available without upgrading; sign-in, custom branding, and advanced layouts have separate plan requirements.
Set up the portal
- Open Admin Settings → Client Portal.
- Choose and save a portal address. The page shows the exact public URL and checks whether your chosen name is available.
- Turn on the Client Portal workspace switch. You can turn it off later without deleting its address or your tickets.
- Open the public address to confirm what a customer sees before sharing it.
If you change an established portal address, old bookmarks and links will stop working. Update the places where you published the previous URL.
Choose what customers can do
In the portal setup and access tabs, you can control the experience separately:
- Show Knowledge Base: display published help articles on the portal. Draft articles remain unpublished.
- Suggest help articles: recommend relevant articles while a customer describes an issue.
- Allow incident reports: let customers choose an incident rather than sending every form as a service request.
- Portal language: select the language used on the public portal.
Portal submissions appear in FyneDesk as tracked work. What a customer can see after submission depends on whether you enable contact login and the portal's access rules.
Guest access and contact login
With contact login off, customers can submit as guests without creating an account. On Pro and above, an administrator can enable Contact Login so contacts can sign in to view and track their tickets. Self-Registration is a separate choice: leave it off for provisioned accounts only, or enable it so new contacts can register.
If you allow self-registration, review the email-verification setting. A person registering against an existing contact with tickets must verify their email before gaining access to those tickets. On Business, administrators can also restrict portal access to approved email domains; that is separate from staff sign-in restrictions.
Branding and layout
Pro adds custom portal branding such as colors and images. A Business workspace can choose the richer Help Center layout. Review the preview after each change, particularly in both light and dark browser settings if your design uses custom colors.
Share or pause the portal
After testing, share the exact portal address shown in Admin Settings on your website, in support messages, or in an email signature. To pause public access, turn off the Client Portal switch. Your configuration and submitted tickets remain in the workspace.
Frequently asked questions
Do customers need an account?
Not for guest submission when that experience is enabled. Contact login is optional and requires Pro. A signed-in contact can track their own tickets according to the portal's access rules.
Does the portal require Pro?
No. The base portal is available on Free. Contact login, self-registration, and custom branding require Pro; some advanced access and layout controls require Business.
Can I disable the portal without losing work?
Yes. Turn off the Client Portal switch. This pauses the public entry point; it does not delete the workspace's tickets.
